How to Find the Cheapest Flight Without Buying the Wrong Ticket

There is no honest list of the cheapest tickets that stays current for every traveler. Prices change by date, market, inventory and booking conditions. A useful comparison starts with the same trip requirements and adds every cost you are likely to pay.
Start with a fair comparison
- Search the same origin, destination, dates and passenger count.
- Repeat with nearby airports only when the ground journey is realistic.
- Compare nonstop and connecting options separately.
- Add carry-on, checked-bag and seat charges for both directions.
- Add airport transport, parking and any extra hotel night.
- Record the final checkout price before deciding.
Use flexible dates with a purpose
Moving a trip by a day can expose different inventory, but the saving matters only if it does not create a larger hotel, work or ground-transport cost. Compare a small date window first. Keep school holidays, major events and minimum-stay restrictions in view.
Nearby airports can help—or hurt

Price the fare family, not the logo

Check the route itself

Before you pay
