PUBLIC TRUST

Ethics policy

Accuracy, independence and proportionality come before speed, outrage and volume.

Independence

Advertisers, affiliates, sponsors and commercial partners cannot purchase a conclusion, ranking or favorable framing. Material commercial relationships are labelled and governed by our affiliate disclosure.

Fairness and attribution

Claims remain attached to the people and institutions making them. Relevant responses are included when available; lack of a response is not treated as agreement. Analysis is labelled and distinguished from verified fact.

Privacy and harm

We avoid unnecessary personal data, graphic detail and speculation. Public interest, evidentiary value and foreseeable harm are weighed before identifying private individuals or amplifying sensitive material.

Conflicts and accountability

Editors should disclose conflicts that could reasonably affect coverage and recuse when independence cannot be maintained. Readers can challenge our work through the secure contact form.
